North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's sister, Kim Yo Jong, has threatened the United States and South Korea with dire consequences.
In a statement on Tuesday (March 10), he said large-scale military exercises by the United States and South Korea could further destabilize the Korean Peninsula. He also promised that North Korea would strengthen its deterrence in response.
"Such a display of force by enemy forces could have unimaginably dire consequences for the sovereignty and security of our state," the statement said. Enemies should never try to test our patience, willpower and ability.
Kim Yo Jong's sister, Kim Yo Jong, made the remarks after the United States and South Korea launched a major annual joint spring military exercise, Freedom Shield, on Monday.
Kim Yo Jong also said that North Korea will fight what it considers to be a strategic threat by strengthening its overwhelming deterrence. "The security and sovereignty of his country will remain inviolable," he stressed. ’
